John Paul in Africa

Hello everyone,
Everything is going well. John is planning on having me help minister to his church. Also, he is asking me to help out with
training pastors. I met his congregation Sunday. I was received warmly. It went very well.
Also, I have a chance to do some traveling to other cities and speak; however, the transportation is somewhat expensive.
The famous Masai warriors were in church Sunday. They're bringing more people next week just to get a look at me. Pastor Chambo is planning to return to U.S. in July. Love, John Paul

Helloooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Please forgive me for not staying in closer touch!!! Communication is a problem. John Chambo does not have internet and the computers shipped from America are not hooked up yet. They simply spent much more money on the container than they anticipated. Pastor Chambo is doing all he can to conserve the church finances. The man is really committed to bringing a revival to Mwanza. I am doing the Bible studies on Wednesdays and Fridays. I've written 11 sermons in 12 days! This week I'm going to begin speaking at other churches. I'm praying to speak the right messages. I'm also planning to return to Dar es Salaam soon. It will be a 3 day train trip. There are churches down there wanting me to come. I'm learning a lot from Pastor Chambo. He thinks I'm their John the Baptist sent with a message just before Jesus begins to work. Some absolutely incredible things have happened!!!!! If I could type faster I would tell you. The Lord is working!!!!!!!! By the way, I have to come clear into town to send any emails! I love you all so much, Take care, John Paul

Greetings,
As I told you on Sabbath things are going very well. John and I got invited yesterday to conduct a 5 day speaking engagement down by Mt. Kilimanjaro. I'm really enthused about going. I'm also preparing for the seminar this weekend. I love doing what I'm now doing... I believe He has called me here for a great purpose.

I'm back!!!!!! I'm making my weekly junket into town. It's not easy getting here!
The seminar went very well!!!!! So well in fact, that they want me to hold a seminar just for pastors. Many will be invited. They really liked my subject material!! I did the first sermon on surrendering your life to God. Then I continued the series on getting out of the boat in regard to many of the characters in the Bible. I spoke Fri. and Sat. nights plus I gave 3 sermons on Sunday. I put all my efforts into it but it was God who obviously made everything happen!!! It was one of the most moving experiences of my life!!!!!! John and I are still planning to do the 5 day engagement soon at Kilimanjaro. They're having power outages here so that’s been interesting to live with. Plus there have been some outbreaks of malaria. I'm working on FINALLY getting some pictures to you!!! Believe me that's a story in itself!!! Anyway, people are still talking about my name being on the mountain TWICE!!!! They truly believe it's a sign from God. And so do I!! It's REALLY WEIRD!!!! I will be in touch. Love always, John Paul

I'm back in town again!!!! My junkets are few and far between. It's rather difficult arranging a trip
because John is more comfortable with someone going with me.
I just finished taking 2 roles of pictures- close to 80. I'm sending them immediately. There are some good shots of the mountain of God. WE FOUND THE NAME JOHN PAUL A SECOND TIME!! We took pictures of it. What's so weird is that there are few names on the mountain. Very few!!!! And what few there are, are in Swahili!!! Figure that one out!!!! John went to Dar es Salaam on business. I'm doing a service tonight and doing the main service this weekend. I'm also giving messages every Wednesday night. Man!!! I have NEVER written so much!!!!!! I'm using almost every free moment to put sermons together!!!! In the states it took me 2 weeks to put together a sermon. I've written 20 in around 28 days!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!! John told me to be ready to speak and I am. I'm still making plans to go to Dar es Salaam myself in the near future. Also, it looks like I'll be doing the seminar for pastors in late April. And John and I are still going down by Mt. Kilimanjaro. That would be a great experience!!!!! We had a slight problem with my visa. The embassy gave me a tourist visa when I really should have had a 6 month work visa. This requires a letter from John. He's the sponsor. I was praying about this matter (and of course the financial end of me being here) the other day, when I read in my devotional the verse from Revelation. "Behold I have set before thee an open door which NO man can SHUT"!!! Wow!!!! God's continued confirmation. I want to THANK all of you from the very depths of my heart for ALL you've done!!!!!!!!!!!! I realize fully that it's been a real SACRIFICE for you to keep me here. Again, THANK YOU for ALL you've done!!!! Take care, Love always, John Paul

Hello everyone!!!!
I hope you have received the pictures I sent you. They went out a week ago. There are some great shots. Some of the Mt. of God. I'm still amazed by my name being up there!!!! I have been extremely busy over the last 2 weeks!! God shifted gears on me again!! 2 influential pastors contacted me through John's associate pastor Prosper Muballa. One of them heard me teach at the last seminar. He told me that he thought my teaching and the messages I have been sharing were fantastic. And He wants me in every church possible before I leave!!! I'm scheduled for seminars practically every week until June. I just finished a seminar yesterday. It was 1 message for 4 nights and then on Sunday I did 3 sermons!!!! It was in a large GRASS HUT!!!!! I shut my eyes several times and said GOD the things YOU get me into!!!! Needless to say it had a dirt floor. I can't believe how excited they are over the messages I've been sharing. God has really OPENED the door. And I've met some really great pastors. True men of God. They're welcoming me with open arms. By the way, my best friend over here is Prosper. He has been a GODSEND!!!! I never could have made it this far without his help. Believe me. John has been great, but He's been tied down with trying to get the church built. It's been an uphill battle. But it has been Prosper and his wife who have been a constant source of encouragement. God bless them both. The messages are nothing profound. I begin talking about surrender, mixing in a little Rick Warren and Andy Stanley. Then I do a number of studies on people of the Bible. How they reacted when God called them. I do use the story of Peter getting out of the boat. They LOVE that one!!!!!! I throw in some dramatics. God is really blessing me!!!!! WOW!!!!! I also tell them that God can do anything with anyone. He turned my life around and if He can do that for me He can do that for them!!!! I tell all the pastors I'm speaking from experience. They love the messages God has given me because it gives their people a sense of hope. And that's what it's all about. It's all about God's plans, not ours. I have to admit, my teaching experience in Japan WAS NOT A WASTE!!!! Well I have to go, love always, John PAUL One last thing, sometimes when they get to jumping around in praise and worship I feel like I'm in an Elvis Presley movie!!!!!!!

Hello,
Things are still really happening over here!!!!! I finished the seminar last Sunday night. It was the most PHENOMENAL experience I've ever had speaking anywhere!!!!!! I totally left my notes and recounted the story of David and Goliath. The Lord was really MOVING!!!! Prosper and my other good friend Pastor James said you could feel the Spirit moving in WAVES!!!!!! WOW!!!!!! I'm still touched by what happened that night!!!!! I sensed everyone in the place was somehow affected. We serve an AWESOME GOD!!!!!!!! And it's never us, it's HIM!!! Also, John just got back from Dar es Salaam. He said God spoke to him while he was there. He said because he has helped God's servant, God is going to bless his ministry greatly. God also said that He's going to continue opening doors over here for me. And that when I return to America He's going to open many doors there as well. Doors that were previously closed, in regard to the ministry He has given me. MAN!!!!!!!! I started a seminar last night. I finish Sunday. Then Monday Prosper, Pastor James and I are crossing a part of Lake Victoria and entering in to another part of the country for a week long seminar. I'll be speaking both morning and evening!!! Pastor James has been one of the driving forces behind me speaking in as many places as possible. Also, John and I are leaving out of here in the middle of May and going to Dar es Salem. I'll finish up my stay and ministry there. It should work out perfect. You know this whole thing has taken on a life of its own. It's not the typical missionary goes to Africa story. There are so many forces at work in this thing!!!!! As you always say Charlie, “It’s a GOD THING.” WOW!!!!!!!!!! WHO'D A THUNK IT!!!!!!! Take care, Love always, John Paul One last thing, God also told John my lean years were coming to an end!!!!! AMEN!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I'm back again. Wonderful things continue to happen here!!!! We came back from our trip on Monday. It was unbelievable!!!!!! We went out to the villages. I did the main messages and Pastor James translated. Friday night was beyond anything I've EVER EXPERIENCED!!!!!!!! I finished the message at around 6 P.M. Then we began praying that the Holy Spirit would sweep through the church like it did at Pentecost. Suddenly, people began weeping and shouting. Because a white American speaker was there, we had something like 12 pastors from other denominations present. Many of them were crying as well. Many of the pastors were very discouraged and ready to quit the ministry. By the time we finished the seminar on Saturday they had all recommitted themselves to staying the course!!!!!! Amen!!!!!!!!!! The people all saw me coming to the villages as a sign from God. No one ever goes out there. Not even their own church officials. Man!!!!! The poverty is everywhere. The pastors are such GOOD men. And they and their families live on almost NOTHING. The poverty didn’t get to me until I went out there. Once you start crying, it is very hard to stop. The Pastors requested a meeting with me and James Saturday afternoon. They did not ask us for money, only prayers. And they begged us to come back. They said if I come back to Africa, they want to have a big crusade with many villages participating. We will target more of the unsaved. Another incredible thing, the wife of the pastor who invited us had a dream the night before we got there. She said Jesus talked to her and many of the things He said were very similar to the messages we taught all week!!!!!! Also when we prayed for the Holy Spirit Friday night she said it was like fire going through the church. READ ACTS. I thought that was fascinating considering she does NOT speak English and had no idea what I prayed for!!!!!! Pastor James really wants me to return to Africa. He has contacts in Kenya so we could work in both countries. Another great thing, remember I told you that we prayed for people at a large hospital here? Well one young boy has had a miraculous recovery. The hospital is begging us to come back as soon as possible!!! I kid you not.
